Police Officer Joe Pecora helps visually impaired
Rod Clemons cross the street Monday during a rain storm.

Visually-impaired New Yorker Rod Clemons wasn't letting a rainy Monday get him down
— but he needed a little help crossing a busy midtown street that had temporarily become

a crime scene.

Clemons was trying to navigate the teeming corner of 49th Street and Ninth Avenue in pelting rain, as police,
curious gawkers, TV cameras and construction workers converged around the site of an early-morning shooting.

NYPD Officer Joe Pecora spotted Clemons as he gingerly approached the fast-moving cars.
The cop sprang into action and carefully offered his arm to Clemons.
The act of kindness went unnoticed amid the chaos until a sharp-eyed Daily News photographer
spotted the duo crossing the street.
Pecora stayed with Clemons and helped him find a working ATM and a drug store before saying goodbye.
