Lebanese yearn for a city that actually works

Tom Coghlan Beirut

Beirut is known to some as the Arab world’s version of Tel Aviv:
a carefree party city where the Middle East can pretend that its
problems don’t exist. Now, at least according to one Lebanese
newspaper last week, it is known as Trash Can Republic.
