ANGELOS DELIVORRIAS: “THE GREEK STATE IS INDIFFERENT TOWARDS CULTURE”

Angelos Delivorrias is since 1973 the General Manager of the Benaki Museum, 
which is one of the most important Greek museums.
 During this period, he was responsible for the Museum’s reconstruction which was completed in 2000. During his career path, he also worked for the National 
Archeological Museum of Greece and was Commissary at the Archeological Offices 
in Arcadia and Achaia. Angelos Delivorrias is a low profile man, 
but with big achievements. 
For his work on organizing and upgrading spaces for exhibitions, was awarded with 
the Gold Medal by the Academy of Athens. 
Since 1992 he’s also Professor of History in the Department of Art and Theatrical 
Studies of the Philosophical School in University of Athens. 
He has gained international recognition for several articles and essays he has 
published in Greece or other countries.
