December 1st is a big day, this year both World AIDS Day and Giving
Tuesday just happen to fall on the same day!
STOPAIDs is delighted to be an official charity of #GivingTuesday and to mark
the day we are holding a panel discussion at Parliament entitled
“Putting the last first: Reach the most marginalised to end AIDS”.
The event will centre on three young people affected by HIV from Myanmar,
Indonesia and the UK who will speak about the barriers they face in accessing
HIV testing and treatment and what solutions they propose.
The event will focus on the most marginalised in society, particularly women
and girls in low income countries and key populations
(MSM, Sex workers, people who inject drugs and transgender) in middle and higher
income countries; it will also explore how these marginalisations all overlap.
Speakers include:
- Baroness Verma, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for International Development
- Diane Abbott MP, Shadow Secretary of State for International Development
- Alexa Dominich – Fokus Muda Network, Indonesia
- Chan Aye San – Myanmar Youth Stars, Myanmar
- Cristian Sandulescu – Local HIV activist, UK

We will also be handing out red ribbons in front of Parliament on the morning
of World AIDS DAY/Giving Tuesday, and Youth Stop AIDS will be leading
on a Missing Medicines photo stunt outside Parliament.
