παρουσιάζουν την έκθεση εγκατάστασης δύο πολύ σημαντικών καλλιτεχνών που
κατοικούν και εργάζονται στον Καναδά, της Καναδής Lorraine Beaulieu και του
Γάλλου Philippe Boissonnet με τίτλο “Eco – Spheres”.

This selection of artworks by Lorraine Beaulieu derives from the realization of "Sisyphus, and the water concern", a participative and sculptural intervention presented at Technohoros Gallery during her participation in the project "Ask the flask" (2014), which was curated by the artist Keti Haliori. Her artistic research concerns her perception of human beings in their ambivalent relationships with nature, culture and communities. Creating sculptures and installations in addition to performances, digital images and collages on paper, she often starts with everyday objects and materials: newsprint, magazines, plastic water bottles, umbrellas, computer cables.... Recently, she introduced more intangible technologies (sound, light) into her sculptural researches by taking a lucid and poetic look at our Anthropocene era.
This selection of holographic, photographic and videographic works (2007-2019) by Philippe Boissonnet is organized around recurring symbolic motifs that allude to the myth of artistic creation and, by extension, to the creation of the world. Privileging an aesthetic of in-betweenness and hybridization, the artist often uses shifts between artistic media – moving from drawing, to photography, sculpture, holography, performance or video – and focuses on dualities of worldviews: perceptual and geopolitical, real and imaginary, internal and external, central and peripheral, protective and fragile... Playing with various geometric shapes (square, cube, sphere, cone, oval...), he seeks to structure the unstable perceptions of a deconstructed world, to balance perceived uncertainties regarding the ungraspability of holographic images. "He sees the Earth as a living organism and identifies it to mythical characters: Gaia, Icarus, Atlas and even Galileo, who reversed our cosmogony" (Hervé Fischer, 2003).
Short biography:
Lorraine Beaulieu lives and works in Trois-Rivières, Québec, Canada. She holds a bachelor's and master's degree in the arts and a minor in art history. A multidisciplinary artist, she is inspired by questions concerning cultural identity and humans’ relationship to their environment. She has worked since 2001 with everyday objects and recycled materials to create two-dimensional sculptures, installations and artworks. Lorraine has completed several artist residencies: Clamecy in France (2005), Marambio in Antarctica (2007), Hydra in Greece (2014) and Avatar and La Chambre Blanche (2017) in Quebec. She has exhibited in many venues in Canada, North and South America, Europe and, recently, the Library of Alexandria in Egypt. A guest artist of the URAV Group, she has organized artistic events as an independent curator since 2011. As well, she has coordinated the activities of the Gallery R3 at the Université du Québec in Trois-Rivières since 2015.
Philippe Boissonnet was born in France (1957) and has lived in Canada (Quebec) since 1985. He studied visual arts at École d’art d’Angers, and Université Sorbonne-Paris I (France) and have a Phd.D. in arts from Université du Quebec à Montréal (Canada). He has been a full-time professor of art at Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières since 1993, where he directs the URAV research group. He received an award for excellence from the Elisabeth Greenshields Foundation (Montreal) in 1983, and from the Shearwater Foundation for the Holographic Arts in 1998 (New York) as well from The Hologram Foundation (Paris) in 2018. He participated in several artist-in-residence programs including the Center for the Holographic Arts in New York City (1999), and the Pulse Laser Laboratory at Ohio State University (2012). In 2007, he and artist Lorraine Beaulieu were invited to the Antarctic Peninsula by the Dirección Nacional del Antártico (Argentina) for researching in art about climate changes. His works has been showcased since 1983 in a number of group and solo exhibitions in Canada, the United States, Europe, Japan, China, Australia, Mexico, and South America, and are part of several public collections in Canada and Europe.

Τα έργα που θα εκθέσει η Lorraine Beaulieu είναι συνδεδεμένα με την performance "Sisyphus, and the water concern" – μία συμμετοχική και γλυπτική παρέμβαση που είχε παρουσιαστεί στην αίθουσα τέχνης Τεχνοχώρος το 2014 – συμμέχοντας έτσι στο project της Καίτης Χαλιορή και του World Water Museum "Ask the flask" (http://technohoros.org/portfolio-type/ask-the-flask-kaiti-xaliori/). Η καλλιτεχνική της έρευνα αφορά την προσωπική της αντίληψη σχετικά με τον Άνθρωπο και την πολύπλοκη σχέση του με τη Φύση, την Κουλτούρα και την Επικοινωνία. Δημιουργώντας γλυπτά και εγκαταστάσεις, καθώς και performances, ψηφιακές εικόνες και κολλάζ σε χαρτί, συνηθώς ξεκινά χρησιμοποιώντας καθημερινά αντικείμενα και υλικά: δημοσιογραφικό χαρτί, περιοδικά, πλαστικά μπουκάλια νερού, ομπρέλες, καλώδια υπολογιστών κ.α. Πρόσφατα, εισήγαγε και περισσότερες άυλες τεχνολογίες (ήχο, φως) στις γλυπτικές της έρευνες, θέτοντας σαφή και ποιητική ματιά στη σύγχρονη εποχή.
Η παρούσα σειρά ολογραφημάτων, φωτογραφιών και βίντεο – έργων (2007- 2019) του Philippe Boissonnet έχει δομηθεί γύρω από επαναλαμβανόμενα συμβολικά μοτίβα τα οποία αναφέρονται στον μύθο της καλλιτεχνικής δημιουργίας και, κατ ’επέκτασιν, στη δημιουργία του κόσμου. Υπηρετώντας μια αισθητική της αλληλεπίδρασης και της μίξης ο καλλιτέχνης συχνά εναλλάσσει τα καλλιτεχνικά του μέσα και κινούμενος από την ολογραφία, στη ζωγραφική, τη φωτογραφία, τη γλυπτική, την performance και το video, επικεντρώνεται στις δυαδικότητες των διάφορων κοσμοθεωριών: αντιληπτική και γεωπολιτική, ρεαλιστική και φανταστική, εσωτερική και εξωτερική, κεντρική και περιφερειακή, προστατευτική και εύθραυστη. Παίζοντας με διάφορα γεωμετρικά σχήματα (τετράγωνο, κύβος, σφαίρα, κώνος, οβάλ…), αναζητά να σταθεροποιήσει τις ασταθείς αντιλήψεις για έναν κόσμο που έχει αποδομηθεί, προκειμένου να ισορροπήσει θεωρητικές αβεβαιότητες, που αφορούν τη μη κατανόηση των ολογραφικών εικόνων. «Βλέπει τον κόσμο ως ζώντα οργανισμό και τον συνδέει με μυθολογικούς χαρακτήρες: τη Γαία, τον Ίκαρο, τον Άτλαντα, ακόμη και τον Γαλιλαίο, ο οποίος ανέτρεψε την κοσμογονία μας». Η Lorraine Beaulieu ζει και εργάζεται στην πόλη Trois-Rivières στο Κεμπέκ του Καναδά. Ο Philippe Boissonnet γεννήθηκε στη Γαλλία (1957) και ζει στον Καναδά (Quebec) από το 1985. Σπούδασε Εικαστικές Τέχνες στο École d’art d’Angers, και στο Université Sorbonne-Paris I στη Γαλλία, και έχει λάβει το διδακτορικό του στις Τέχνες από το Université du Quebec à Montréal του Καναδά. Μία πρώτη αναδρομική του από τα ολογραφήματα παρουσιάστηκε στη The Holocenter Vault Gallery της Νέας Υόρκης το 2014. Έργα του βρίσκονται σε πολλές δημόσιες συλλογές στον Καναδά και την Ευρώπη.
