Stop jihadi Brits returning to UK, say Londoners as 'Islamic terror plot' is smashed

Three out of four Londoners believe Britons who have 

gone to Iraq or Syria to fight with extremist groups...

should be banned from returning to the UK, a new poll reveals today.

The YouGov survey found women in particular take a  hard line 

on refusing jihadists back into the country.

It also showed more than a third of Londoners would back 

the UK and US sending ground troops into Iraq again to fight 

the Islamic State, though 43 per cent would disapprove.

The poll comes as Scotland Yard and MI5 smashed a 

suspected Islamic State-linked plot to carry out a terror 

atrocity on the streets of London.

Counter-terrorism officers, backed by armed police, 

arrested four men in their early twenties yesterday amid 

fears they were in the early stages of plotting a “significant” attack.

It is understood to be the first plot directly inspired 

by IS terrorists and senior security sources say at least one of the 

group was a suspected jihadist who had recently returned 

to the UK from Syria...
