Countries across the world are celebrating as they wave goodbye to 2018
and welcome the new year.
Stunning firework displays have already been seen in Samoa and New Zealand
as thousands gathered to watch and celebrate.
New Zealand entered the New Year at around 11am, UK time, with Australia soon to be following soon.
Given its vastness, different parts of Australia will enter the new year at different times.
Incredibly, American Samoa, which is just 163km from Samoa who entered 2019 first, is the last to celebrate and will have to wait until 11am tomorrow in UK time.

A lot of people usually mumble their way through Auld Lang Syne while linking arms with loved ones.

*New Year's Eve weather for UK
For those hoping to get a good view of fireworks in big celebrations around
the UK, it is expected that there will be some cloud but most of the country
will be clear.
However, a yellow warning has been issued for the Shetland Islands today
and tomorrow, warning of winds up to 75mph.
In London, where more than 100,000 people are expected to watch the
world-famous fireworks display, forecasters predict a dry but cloudy night.
And revellers at Edinburgh’s Hogmanay celebrations can expect a cloudy
and mild evening - but it might get a bit windy.

Other parts of Australia are yet to celebrate the New Year.
Queensland will enter 2019 at 2pm and the Northern Territory at 2:30pm.
Western Australia will celebrate at 3:15pm.
After that, Japan, South Korea, Tokyo, Seoul and Pyongyang will enter the
New Year at 3pm.
With 38 different local times in use, it takes 26 hours for the New Year
to encompass all time zones.
*Viewers amazed
People on social media were amazed at the scenes in Sydney harbour
as the fireworks marked the start of 2019.
The display lasted over 12 minutes and had many claiming the NYE show
is always the best in the world.
